How to Start a Compression Wear Brand (2026 Playbook)
Launching a compression wear brand takes a clear product spec, a factory you can trust, and a launch that doesn't overstock. This is the step-by-step playbook we give every new brand we manufacture for.
Step 1 — Define your compression niche
Compression is not one product. Decide: men's or women's, shirts vs leggings vs full sets, training vs recovery vs medical-grade. Your niche decides fabric, fit and compression level.Step 2 — Choose your compression fabric
Most compression wear uses nylon-spandex blends (77–85% nylon / 15–23% spandex). Higher spandex = more compression; lower = more breathability for training. Ask for fabric specs with weight (GSM) and stretch-recovery data before sampling.Step 3 — Sample before you commit
- Request 2–3 fabric swatches first
- Order sample garments in your target sizes
- Wash-test: measure length/width before and after 5 washes
- Check flat-lock seams, gussets and waistband tension
Step 4 — Set your MOQ plan
In-stock styles ship from 1 piece (test the market); private label from 100 pieces; custom OEM from 300. Start with in-stock branded product to validate demand, then move to private label.Step 5 — Launch lean
- Start with 1–3 hero styles, not 20
- Use pre-orders on your store to fund the first run
- Plan a fast reorder: our restock is ~7 days on in-stock
- Set pricing at 3–5× landed cost for retail margin
