Custom Gym Wear Manufacturer: From Tech Pack to Your Brand's Rack
I've spent twenty years on the sample and production floor of our Zhejiang factory, and most custom gym wear projects stall on the paperwork, not the sewing: A brand sends us a vague idea — "black tee, our logo" — and then we spend weeks going back and forth on details that should have been in the tech pack. The good news is that turning your idea into a production-ready file is a learnable skill, and this page walks you through it end to end, the way we run it every week.
The Five Files That Prevent Rework
Before you contact any custom gym wear manufacturer, gather these five pieces of information. Getting them right on the first pass is the single biggest lever on your timeline:
1. **A garment spec or reference**: A tech pack, a detailed sketch, or even photos of a reference garment from three angles. We can reverse-engineer from a sample, but a clear spec is faster and cheaper. 2. **A size chart**: Even a rough one — chest, length, and sleeve/waist measurements for your core sizes. We grade it into the full S–5XL run. Missing this is the most common cause of fit rework. 3. **Colors as Pantone numbers (F004)**: "Navy" means ten different things to ten different people. A Pantone reference means one thing to our dye house. 4. **Logo files in vector format**: AI, EPS or a high-res PNG with transparency. A logo that's been upscaled from a website screenshot will show its blur when printed. 5. **Placement and method**: Where the logo goes (chest, back, sleeve) and which method (see below). If unsure, ask — this is a consultation, not a test.
From Idea to Sample in 7 Days
Once we have your spec, our development process runs on a fixed clock:
1. **Tech pack review (24 hours)**: We confirm we can produce what you've sent, flag anything ambiguous, and quote. 2. **Sample (7 days)**: Our sample room cuts and sews your design — you receive photos and a tracking number. For custom gym wear, sample cost is credited against your first production order. 3. **Approval**: You sign off on fabric, fit, color and logo placement. 4. **Bulk production (4-6 weeks)**: We source materials and run the order, with inline QC checks through the line. 5. **Final inspection & shipping**: AQL 2.5 inspection, photos, then DDP to your door or FBA warehouse.
Restocks of a style we've already produced ship in **3-7 days** — once your tech pack is in our system, reordering is close to ordering stock.
Choosing the Right Logo Method for Gym Wear
Gym wear is high-wash, high-friction apparel, so logo method is a durability decision:
For high-stretch zones (chest, upper back), we steer you away from stiff applications that crack or lift under movement — that's what a factory with a real sample room gives you.
The Five File Problems That Trip Up Custom Orders
Over the years, the same five issues appear again and again. Fix them before you send your pack:
None of these are deal-breakers — we handle all of them — but knowing them means your project starts fast instead of iterating.
Ordering Custom Gym Wear: MOQ and Terms
Our terms let you start small and validate before scaling:
Every shipment passes **AQL 2.5 (ISO 2859-1, General Inspection Level II)** — for a 500-piece batch, a 50-piece sample where we accept 2 defective units and reject on 3, with photos before dispatch. We hold OEKO-TEX 100, ISO 9001:2015 and BSCI certifications, use REACH/Prop65-compliant materials, and ship DDP to the US, UK and EU with FBA labeling available.
A note on responsiveness: when a UK client flagged a reflective-strip peeling problem on their apparel, our team redesigned the application and delivered a fix within 48 hours. That's the response speed a factory with its own floor can offer your custom program.
